Congratulations to Demi Neri, who has successfully completed the CITB Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), a recognised two-day qualification that equips individuals with the knowledge and confidence to supervise construction activities safely and effectively.
The SSSTS course is designed for those who either have, or are preparing to take on, site supervision responsibilities. It provides a comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation, risk management and the responsibilities of maintaining safe working environments.
As part of the course, Demi delivered a Toolbox Talk focusing on asbestos. The presentation covered what asbestos is, where it is commonly found within buildings, the risks it poses to health and the importance of identifying and managing asbestos safely before any work begins.
Another key element of the qualification involved producing a detailed Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS). For this assessment, Demi was tasked with developing a RAMS for a site operative cutting concrete. The exercise required identifying four key hazards associated with the activity, assessing the level of risk and outlining the control measures required to minimise those risks. This practical approach reinforces the importance of planning work safely before it begins and ensuring appropriate procedures are followed throughout the task.
Completing the SSSTS qualification supports Demi’s ongoing development as part of the Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship. The course complements the apprenticeship by strengthening the practical knowledge and skills required to supervise construction activities, manage health and safety responsibilities and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
Investing in professional development is an important part of building a knowledgeable and safety-conscious workforce. Congratulations to Demi on achieving this qualification and continuing to develop the skills that will support both personal career progression and the safe delivery of projects across our business.
